Memorial Day

This weekend I just want to take the time to thank the families and friends of those troops that gave their all to protect us for giving those brave HEROES to us, the American citizen. I will shine a spotlight of some of those great American HEROES.

My first two American Hero’s are Delta Force Snipers Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon, both of them received the medal of honor for there actions in the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. They gave their lives protecting a black hawk helicopter crash site, they volunteered to be put in to protect, and knew full well they would not receive immediate backup. Their actions saved army helicopter pilot Mike Durant.

Next is, Micheal P. Murphy, who gave his life in Afghanistan, He was a member of a 4 man Navy SEAL team. They were sent out on a mission to kill a high level Taliban leader, the team was discovered and during a firefight Murphy went into the open to complete a phone call with headquarters, he was wounded numerous times while completing this action. Murphy completed the request for backup and gave a accurate location and returned to the fight. He was awarded the Medal of Honor. Marcus Luttrell was the lone survivor of the SEAL team and was rescued six days later.

These are just 2 stories of American HEROES that are out there. There are millions more for all of the conflicts and wars the United States has been in. I suggest you as an American go out and do some research and find a story, attempt to find a living family member of one of the soldiers in the story and tell them thank you for their family members service. If you see a living veteran this weekend or next week tell them thank you for their service. Or find a charity such as Wounded Warriors or Freedom is not free and donate or volunteer you time to them in some way.
