Jim Moran, one of only 15 Congressional representatives voting to raise their pay, Matthew Berry responds

BERRY SLAMS MORAN FOR VOTE TO RAISE HIS OWN PAY

(Arlington, VA) – By a bipartisan vote of 402-15, the U.S. House of Representatives voted today to block a Congressional pay increase. However, Congressman Jim Moran of Virginia’s 8th District was one of only 15 Congressmen to vote in favor of raising their own pay.

In response to Moran’s vote, Matthew Berry, Republican candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 8th District,
made the following statement:

“At a time when the federal government is running a $1.5 trillion budget deficit and millions of Americans have lost their jobs, our elected representatives need to set an example by tightening their own belts, not granting themselves pay increases with our tax dollars. Today’s vote shows that Jim Moran is no longer representing the people of the 8th District;
he’s just representing Jim Moran.”
