VA-08 post primary
It has been a few days since the Republican Primary in the 8th District and I have been thinking long and hard about my feelings on the primary election there. As, you all know I supported the stronger, more conservative Matthew Berry. Though he did not win, I still am convinced he was the better candidate and he was railroaded by the Murray camp.
Patrick Murray and his campaign staff painted Berry as a supporter of gay marriage, when Barry said it was up to the states to decide this, which in is line with Federalism, something the Murray campaign and Patrick Murray himself seems not to be able to comprehend. Murray and supporters also labeled Berry as a “progressive” Republican, while Berry’s policies stances were to the right and more in line with the Constitution then Murray’s. Now we are stuck with a pro-choice and completely under funded, weak candidate in Murray. Murray’s disrespectful and down right deceitful and dirty campaign has given me no other choice but to say I can not in clear concise endorse or support him in the general election. Murray pandered to the social conservatives and homophobes in Fairfax County and they pushed him over the top, in turn Murray never mentioned that he is pro-choice, but the pandering worked out.
The attacks on Berry were untrue and disgusting. Berry, who clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and now is being labeled as a “progressive” Republican, because he believes that the federal government should not have a say in marriage is in line with what the Constitution holds.
In short, we now have a candidate in Murray, who is no better the Jim Moran. Murray will say and do anything to win a Republican primary and violate his own “code of ethics”, attack and distort a fellow Republican’s policy stances, and down right lie to win. Two years ago we had a candidate in Mark Ellmore who was as bad as what we have now in Murray. So come November, vote for Ham Sandwich or do not throw away a vote on the reincarnation of Mark Ellmore.

Garrett,
None of what you’re claiming has any merit or credibility. Your arguments are wrought with inconsistencies and angry personal attacks, but you forgot to include a shred of truth. The icing on the cake is equating Patrick Murray to Jim Moran. Keep that up and I predict a political future for you that is extremely short-lived…. “On the right” is on the wrong side of this issue.
Steve
Maybe if Murray hadn’t campaigned in the toilet, I and a lot of other people wouldn’t feel that way. Murray violated his so called code of ethics and distorted and lied the whole campaign. Red NOVA and Right on Gallows have all the facts to back up what I said.
As far as a political future, I could care less. My blog in a year has been featured on at least 3 campaign websites, including Bob McDonnell’s and in the Washington Times, so I must being doing something right.
