So Jeff Clark doesn’t believe in federalism or limited government
Independent Candidate for Congress in the 5th District of Virginia and certified douchbag Jeff Clark supports a federal amendment defining marriage between man and women. The below quote is taken from his campaign website,
I will stand in support of an amendment to constitution defining marriage as between a man and a woman. I will do so in hopes that the wave of growing support for this movement will cause our government to take action to protect marriage
obviously Clark has never read the Constitution, and believes the federal government should define marriage. But I thought all the tea baggers believed in the 10th Amendment? And a limited federal government? Since when does the federal government have the authority to define marriage, which is a religious institution?
While he is at it, Clark also thinks certain Federal Circuit Courts should be disbanded. So much for a belief in the Constitution. II guess he took the same Constitution class Cathy Crabill took.

maybe u should talk to Mr. Clark, having known him for several years now I can say quite honestly that his feelings on marriage have nothing to do with wanting to expand government…considering this is the best you could do in an argument aiming at trying to make Mr. Clark seem as if he is for expanded government I think maybe you could use a swift dose of reality. So here it is… if you have to sling highschool insults in order to try and make your point, you most likely don’t have a valid point. Mr. Clark is one of the most respectable honest and honorable people I know. He has made no effort to dodge or double talk his way out of a question so if you or anyone else would like to actualy find out first hand what he believes on any topic or find clarification to one he has already answered call him, email him, he will answer you and he will do so honestly and respectfully.
Spouting dumb highschool insults is childish, rude, dissrespectful and really only insults the intellegence of the people who read your posts. I am sure any adult can tell your statement could have been made without the use of insults. I thank you for your service to the community following the election and I hope that in the future you rember that Mr. Clark is readily availible for clarification or comment.
Nameless one, Clark advocates the federal government to define marriage, the Constitution has nothing, nota, zlinch, about marriage in it. So there for it is not a federal government issues and the federal government should have no say in it. The 10th Amendment gives all items not defined by the Constitution to the states to define, so there for Clark belives that if he is elected, he and Congress should super cede states rights.
no, first off Mr. Clarks full stamement was not shown. http://www.crashtheirparty.com read what he said…the whole thing.
Are you aware that you and Tom Perriello share this position, opposition to a federal marriage amendment? And I’m almost 99.99% positive that Hurt does too.
Just a note, when I said that I’m almost 99.9% positive that Hurt does too, I mean I’m 99.99% positive that Hurt, like Clark, supports a federal marriage amendment.
@NAS, Robert Hurt isn’t running as a tea party member who claims to want to uphold the Constitution. While Jeff Clark is, and in turn wants to violate states rights, force government control upon a religious institution, and disband a Constitutionally mentioned government function in Circuit court of appeals. So much for Clark believing in the Constitution.
Garrett-
Having spoken with Jeff Clark extensively on this subject, I believe you have misquoted him, at the very least. At worst, you have utterly distorted his argument.
Jeff has made numerous appearances on my radio shows, and, while he personally believes in marriage as a contract between a man and a woman, he also has expressed firm support for the concept of civil unions.
I have many gay and lesbian friends who are, for all intents and purposes, fiscally conservative and/or civil libertarians. They would gladly join and actively promote Republicans and/or conservatives were it not for wedge issues such as this one, propagated by the religious “right.”
I think Jeff fully understands that and, if you actually took the time to contact him personally, I’m sure you would agree, and perhaps this misleading post would not have been written at all.
Garrett-
First off, as someone who has spoken with Jeff Clark extensively over the past 6 months or so, I can assure you that your interpretation of his stance is a touch off base.
Jeff has appeared on my radio shows numerous times, and it may do everyone some good to actually go back into my archives and listen to what he has said, on this issue and others.
While Jeff most assuredly believes that marriage is between one man and one woman, this is his personal opinion and, as such, will have little to no bearing on his decisions in DC as a *representative* of his constituents.
Further, I have many friends in the gay and lesbian community who believe (as does Jeff) that civil unions are a more advisable route to take, regarding this issue. Many of these friends are, in fact, fiscal conservatives and/or civil libertarians who would line up, consistently, to vote for GOP candidates were it not for wedge issues such as this one that are propagated by the religious “right.”
The fact of the matter is, these social cans that have been kicked down the proverbial road for decades, ARE left to the states, according to the Constitution.
Robert Hurt, not Jeff Clark, is the one who refuses to adhere to the wisdom of the Framers on this point. A bit more research on your part, and a lot less context-twisting, would have negated any reasonable need for this entire blog entry, and the comments it has generated.
@Garrett Watson……I got your “tea bagger” boy! I’d really like to see you say that to my face! If you got nothing more to do that insult others might I suggest you not comment at all! It shows your ignorance!
I don’t know about the rest of you here, but I’m kinda tired of having the lesser of two evils to vote for? You got Perriello, who is a Pelosi/Obummer rubber stamp. Then you got Hurt, who is a Democrap wannabe, ie, he voted with them to raise our taxes here in Virginia and will likely do so again as a US Congressman! Then you have Jeffery Clark, a successful local business man that is a TRUE Constitutional Conservative that has NEVER been in public office before so he hasn’t been corrupted by those in that enviorment. Both Hurt and Perriello are lawyers and career politicians, which we DO NOT need.
Einstein once said that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing all the time and expecting a different outcome. So tell me why we should vote for any politician period?
Jeffery Clark for Congress in November!
